Forlimpopoli Celebrates Artusi’s Legacy with a Trifecta of Events

Forlimpopoli commemorates the birthday of Pellegrino Artusi, the celebrated father of Italian home cooking, on August 4th with a three-part celebration. The festivities begin, as in previous years, with the presentation of the prestigious Artusi Award. This year’s recipients are Nico Acampora, founder of PizzAut, and the young people involved in his pioneering project for autistic inclusion through the culinary arts. The award recognizes their innovative and impactful work in promoting social inclusion and employment opportunities for autistic individuals. The committee cited PizzAut’s courage and creativity in raising awareness about the employability of autistic people, contributing to a more inclusive and understanding future. Acampora’s achievement in opening two successful PizzAut pizzerias, staffed entirely by autistic individuals, exemplifies the values of culinary excellence and social responsibility. The award ceremony, held at the Chiesa dei Servi at 8 pm, precedes a special dinner. Additionally, a special Artusi Award will be presented to the renowned singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini in the autumn, honoring his lifelong dedication to preserving and celebrating Italian folk culture, including its culinary traditions. This year’s celebration also features a unique culinary event orchestrated by the Associazione Mariette. Six renowned chefs will collaborate on a star-studded menu at a large banquet in via Costa, with all proceeds benefiting those affected by the recent devastating Romagna floods. Participating chefs include Igles Corelli, Gianfranco Vissani, Valentino Mercattili, Philippe Lèveillè, Fulvio Pierangelini, and Rossano Boscolo. The dinner includes contributions from local businesses such as Acquisti, Partesafor Wine, and Enzo Marinato’s award-winning bakery. The event is sold out. For younger attendees, the “White Night” music festival at the Rocca’s moat will offer live music by Innasense, followed by a DJ set by Balera Groovosa, featuring Luca Milandri and Chris Lopez. While Romagna a Tavola promotes these events, for further details please contact the organizers directly.
