Romagna’s Sparkling Whites: A Celebratory Tasting in Cervia

On Monday, February 25th, from 5 pm to 9 pm, the Officine del Sale in Cervia will host “The White Wine Experience,” a unique tasting showcasing the exceptional white wines of Romagna. Fifteen esteemed wineries, members of the “Club dei Bianchi In Romagna,” will pour a diverse selection of approximately fifty labels. This collaborative group, established last July, champions the region’s often-underrated white varietals, highlighting their exceptional quality and affordability.

The event welcomes wine enthusiasts and hospitality professionals to sample a wide array of autochthonous and international varieties, including the renowned Albana DOCG, Rebola (from Grechetto Gentile), Trebbiano, and Pagadebit (Bombino Bianco). Less common, yet equally compelling, grapes like Famoso (Rambèla) will also be featured, alongside international favorites such as Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Riesling, all thriving in Romagna’s unique terroir. The selection also extends to sparkling wines, encompassing both Chardonnay blends with native white grapes and Blanc de Noirs, showcasing Sangiovese vinified as a white. Complementing the tasting will be delectable food pairings curated by the Officine del Sale’s chefs.

The historic Officine del Sale, a beautifully restored 17th-century warehouse, provides the perfect ambiance for this celebration. Guests will enjoy free-flowing tasting with a provided glass and wristband. Winemakers will be present to share insights into their wines, current trends in white wine consumption, and ideal food pairings. Admission is €12 for the public, including unlimited wine tasting and two food tickets. Hospitality professionals receive complimentary entry and tasting with a provided invitation.

Taste Production, renowned for its “In Bolla” events, and PrimaPagina, organizer of “Tramonto DiVino,” have collaborated to organize this event. Following the tasting, a seafood-focused dinner (€20) featuring Adriatic specialties will be available at the Officine del Sale.

The event coincides with the launch of the Club dei Bianchi’s new WineMagazine, a stylish publication showcasing the featured wineries and wines. This 52-page magazine, boasting a fresh design, QR codes, and social media integration, will be distributed freely to attendees and will also be digitally accessible. It features articles by wine journalists and sommeliers, providing in-depth analysis, chef pairings, and expert perspectives, focusing particularly on the “Primadonna di Romagna,” Albana DOCG. The magazine will be distributed semiannually to over 3000 hospitality professionals throughout the region.
