Misano Station: A Culinary Journey Through Time and Taste

The Misano Adriatico train station’s restaurant-pizzeria, “Alla Stazione,” defies expectations. Established in 1947, this family-run establishment masterfully blends its rich history with innovative culinary trends. The spacious, inviting atmosphere unfolds a captivating narrative through its décor. Heavy drapes at doors and windows evoke a sense of age, while the central terracotta-tiled room, adorned with round tables and wicker chairs, echoes Italy’s booming postwar era. A modern, eclectic veranda and terrace, filled with lush palms, feathered accents, and stylish lampshades, offers a lighter take on the once-popular Art Nouveau style prevalent in Romagna. Selected design elements, such as Villa d’Este glassware, further enhance the ambiance. The enchanting outdoor setting is complete with a semicircle of vintage train carriages, creating a picturesque backdrop of pastel carriages and verdant greenery, perfect for romantic dinners and special events. This consistently updated and refreshed space reaches its zenith during the festive holiday season, a vibrant explosion of color and form. Unlike many contemporary eateries specializing in a single niche – from sandwich shops to sushi bars to steak houses – Alla Stazione provides a diverse yet curated menu. A limited selection of high-quality recipes, focusing on both meat and (especially during summer) seafood, ensures exceptional standards. Classic recipes are creatively reimagined, like their spaghetti alle vongole—featuring shelled clams, parsley chlorophyll, bottarga, and clam mayonnaise. Gourmet pizzas, crafted with high-hydration dough, are complemented by metro pizzas and gourmet burgers. Artisan bread, boasting a satisfying crispness, supports a range of exquisite toppings, from mortadella, burrata, pistachio pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes to shrimp, avocado, and paprika mayonnaise. These flavorful bites pair perfectly with a selection of Italian, Belgian, or German craft beers or one of the restaurant’s one hundred wine labels, perhaps expertly recommended by Giacomo Maroncelli, a partner and passionate wine connoisseur. “We strive to satisfy every palate without excess,” explains Giacomo. “We maintain a focused menu, ensuring each dish is meticulously prepared.” He hints at future surprises: “We’re always evolving, constantly refreshing not just the kitchen but also the ambiance and our unique summer garden with its antique train carriages. We aim for a touch of enchantment.” Based on our tasting experience, this delightful establishment certainly delivers a satisfying conclusion.
