Cattolica’s Celebrated “Rustida”: A Coastal Feast

In Cattolica, the “Grande Rustida” stands out amongst the town’s vibrant summer festivals. This spectacular event, orchestrated annually by Cattolica’s lifeguards, transforms Piazza Primo Maggio into a culinary haven. This year’s celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 11th, 2019. For the uninitiated, “rustida,” a local dialect word, translates to “grill,” conjuring images of glowing embers and the irresistible aroma of freshly grilled seafood. The lifeguards’ masterful grilling of Adriatic fish draws thousands of visitors, both locals and tourists, captivated by the delectable barbecue, lively music, and festive atmosphere. Generous portions of exquisite blue fish are generously offered, cooked on enormous grills, expertly managed by Cattolica’s dedicated lifeguards. The feast is complemented by copious amounts of local Trebbiano di Romagna wine. This “Rustida” serves as a delightful tribute to both the Adriatic coast and the summer season, a celebration of Romagna’s culinary traditions, showcasing the region’s warm hospitality through a perfect blend of exquisite food and relaxed enjoyment. Location: Piazza 1° Maggio. Time: 9:15 PM onwards. Admission is free. Please note: Romagna a Tavola is solely responsible for publicizing this event and is not involved in its organization.
