Rimini’s Extended Festive Season: A Fellini-Inspired Celebration

Rimini unveils an extraordinary extended holiday celebration, brimming with world-class events, from November 30th to January 20th. The festivities honor the centennial of Federico Fellini’s birth, weaving his cinematic magic throughout the program. A major exhibition, “Fellini 100 and the Dolce Vita Exhibition,” will debut, its themes echoed in the city’s festive illuminations and decorations. The highlight is New Year’s Eve, a dual celebration. In Piazzale Fellini, the acclaimed Italian pop artist Coez will headline a concert, followed by a dazzling fireworks display over the Adriatic Sea. Simultaneously, the historic city center transforms into a massive open-air club, a “Rimini Dance Reunion,” featuring legendary DJs from iconic Riviera nightclubs like Paradiso, Velvet, Slego, Baia degli Angeli, Cellophane, and Barcelona, recreating the electrifying atmosphere of the 80s and 90s. Planet Funk will add their distinctive sound to the festivities in Piazza Malatesta. Other DJs including Ricky Montanari, Daniele Baldelli, and DJ Cirillo will also perform across various locations. Roberta Lanfranchi and Claudio Guerrini of RDS 100% Grandi Successi will provide additional musical entertainment. Unique musical performances will also grace the Agostiniani complex, the Domus del Chirurgo, and the City Museum. The celebrations extend beyond New Year’s Eve. Verdi’s “Rigoletto” will grace the Teatro Galli stage on January 1st, 3rd, and 4th. The festive atmosphere ignites on November 30th with the lighting of spectacular illuminated hot air balloons featuring Fellini’s iconic quotes in Piazza Cavour, accompanied by fire-eater, fakir, acrobat, and enchanter performances culminating in the official illumination ceremony. A coordinated festive display will adorn Piazza Cavour, Piazza Malatesta, and Castel Sismondo from November 30th to January 20th, featuring elaborate stage designs, a tree-lined red carpet, an ice-skating rink in Piazza Malatesta, a “Circ’amarcord” artisan market in Via Poletti, and a Santa Claus house. A French carousel featuring “La Dolce Vita” imagery will also enchant visitors. Three Sundays (December 8th, 15th, and 22nd) will see Piazza Cavour transformed into a fairytale village by the Cartoon Club, International Animation Film, Comics and Games Festival. Borgo San Giuliano’s charming streets will also host festive events, including a torchlight procession honoring Fellini on November 30th and culinary events, “Saperi e Sapori” (December 4th-6th) and “La Tavola di Natale” (December 16th-24th). A charity event, “Borgo Solidale,” takes place on December 8th, followed by a Christmas market on December 15th, and “Borgo Jazz” on December 28th. The festivities conclude on January 6th with the “Befana Borgo Run.” A comprehensive Fellini exhibition, “Fellini 100 and the Dolce Vita Exhibition,” opens at Castel Sismondo on December 14th. Giant sand nativity scenes will be displayed on the beach from December 7th to January 12th. “Romagna Osteria” will host a culinary event at the Grand Hotel on December 19th.
