Faenza’s June Jubilee: A Month of Festivities

Throughout June 2021, Faenza buzzed with activity during “Faenza Riparte,” a month-long celebration featuring nightly events from 6:30 PM to midnight. The initiative, spearheaded by the Faenza C’entro association, showcased open shops, lively aperitivi, enticing food tastings, al fresco dining, vibrant artisan markets, and captivating live music. Artistic craft markets enlivened Corso Matteotti, Corso Garibaldi, Corso Saffi, and Corso Mazzini, providing a delightful prelude to the customary summer Tuesday events in July. The Rumore di Fondo association curated the musical performances, predominantly featuring local talent. Specific highlights included artisan and creative stalls gracing Corso Matteotti on June 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd, integrated with special offerings from local businesses as part of the “Balconi & Cortili-OnAir” series. Musical acts included Jennifer Vargas at La Mangeria del Corso on June 1st, Moris Pradella and Ang inRadio Faenza Indie accompanying 19.86’s pizza al tegamino on the 15th, and a DJ set at Bar del Moro in Piazza Martiri della Libertà. The International Museum of Ceramics contributed “Martedì del Mic,” guided tours of the “Alfonso Leoni. Genio Ribelle” exhibition on June 1st, 15th, and 29th, and tours of the “Ceramiche popolari, design e rivestimenti tra passato e futuro” section on June 8th and 22nd (reservations required: 0546 697311 or info@micfaenza.org). Further events and markets shifted to Corso Garibaldi on June 9th, 16th, and 23rd, incorporating the Mercato del Contadino by Confagricoltura Ravenna and Cia Agricoltori Italiani Romagna. Other performances included the Trio Italiano in Piazza San Francesco on June 9th (fundraiser for Piccola Betlemme, in collaboration with Materiali Musicali), Valeria Magnani and Federico Baldassarri from the Hotel Vittoria balcony on June 16th (Balconi & Cortili On Air), and the Cherry Notes Swing Trio accompanying tastings by Enoteca Invino AswineConsulting and Napizzs on June 23rd. Corso Saffi and Corso Mazzini hosted markets on June 4th, 11th, and 25th, with additional Balconi & Cortili-OnAir performances starting at 8:30 PM, including Francesco and Maria Sole Chiari’s Fabrizio De André tribute on June 4th, Rita Zauli and Francesco Chiari’s “La volta buona” on June 11th, and Nicola Dotti and Clarissa Nicoletto’s “Soul Din Don” on June 25th. Throughout the month, al fresco dining, aperitivi, and tastings accompanied the markets. Additional shopping, tasting, and outdoor dining opportunities were available in Via Cavour on June 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th. Deputy Mayor Andrea Fabbri and Sergio Scipi, president of the “Faenza C’entro” Consortium, emphasized the event’s dual purpose: fostering social interaction and supporting local businesses. A special event on June 29th in Corso Europa served as an early start to July’s Tuesday festivities. The BCC and the International Museum of Ceramics provided crucial support. The schedule was subject to change; updates were posted on participating associations’ social media pages and at www.faenzacentro.it.
