Cervia’s Festive Family Celebration: 2024-2025

Cervia’s historic center transforms into a dazzling Christmas village, brimming with festive cheer and time-honored traditions. Enchanting nativity scenes, both classic and contemporary, delight visitors alongside charming market stalls overflowing with artisanal crafts and regional delicacies. Piazza Garibaldi, beneath the majestic Christmas tree, serves as the vibrant hub of activity, offering family-friendly entertainment and attractions. The official tree lighting ceremony, featuring a towering spruce generously donated from Pinzolo-Madonna di Campiglio, takes place on December 8th. This sustainable practice, certified by the PEFC, ensures responsible forestry management. The picturesque wooden chalets of the Christmas market in Piazza Garibaldi showcase unique gift ideas and culinary delights. Throughout the holiday season, extending until January 6th, Piazza Garibaldi, Corso Mazzini, Piazzetta Pisacane, and Viale Roma host a diverse program of events: artisan workshops, art exhibitions, and captivating family shows. The beloved Christmas Express train will once again connect Cervia and Milano Marittima, operating from December 8th to January 6th, 2025. New Year’s Eve festivities in the historic center include lively aperitivi, delectable tastings, and celebratory toasts hosted by local establishments. Live music performances by the Barboni di Lusso grace Piazza Garibaldi, while Piazza Maffei, near the Torre San Michele, offers a musical New Year’s Eve celebration. On January 6th, from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the traditional Pasqualotti, dressed in their authentic peasant attire, will fill Piazza Garibaldi with enchanting rhymes and carols as the Befana makes her grand arrival. The enchanting Elf and Grinch Garden, adjacent to the Duomo in Piazza Garibaldi, remains open throughout the holiday period, inviting children to interact with magical Christmas characters including elves, reindeer, ice queens, and the infamous Grinch, who will even star in his own dedicated theater performances. A large ice-skating rink will provide festive fun in Piazza Garibaldi from November 30th until late January, with extended hours throughout the holiday period. A comprehensive schedule of performances, encompassing music, acrobatics, and magic, is planned for the main stage and the stage adjacent to the Christmas tree, including special events like the grand Christmas raffle, the Pasqualotti Festival, and other cherished traditions. Santa Claus will meet children and pose for photos in December, while the Befana will greet younger visitors in January. A virtual tour of Santa’s house allows online exploration of this remarkable creation. For detailed scheduling and updates, visit www.turismo.comunecervia.it.
